Work Experience

Job Shadowing, Nephrology

May 2022 

Through this program, I had an opportunity to shadow a senior nephrologist and learn about dialysis and hemodialysis. I was able to observe and understand the hemodialysis process and water filtration for hemo dialysis patients. I also had the opportunity to observe and see the daily life of a nephrologist working in a private clinic setting.

Orchestra Volunteering Program

SEPTEMBER-DECEMBER 2021

As a member of the school orchestra club, we played music for senior citizens who came to visit the school. Additionally, we volunteered to play music to raise money during our school’s Holiday Bazaar in December.

COVID-19 Relief

JUNE 2021

In collaboration with SEWA, I helped volunteer to raise money for COVID relief in India. SEWA is a non-profit, who’s development programs focus on family services; child, tribal and refugee welfare; women empowerment; health; and education.

For The Love of Erika

I helped organize a toy drive that collected Christmas presents for children in hospitals.

 

HOSA Volunteering

I helped raise money for the medical club at my school by selling stickers, stationery, and other merchandise at my school’s Holiday Bazaar.

I helped raise money for a local veterinary hospital by hosting entertainment for children such as face painting, board games, and interaction with animals.

I volunteered at a toy drive and raffle run by the state government representative that aims to raise money and toys for impoverished children.

 

Tree Lighting Ceremony

DECEMBER 2017

I assisted in the arrangement of a local tree lighting ceremony, and kept younger children entertained with fun art projects.

Girl Scouts

SEPTEMBER 2012 - present

As a Girl Scout, I have participated and lead many community service events, including organizing essential donations for impoverished parents, doing face painting for children as a method of raising money for a veterinary clinic, and organizing toy drives to give Christmas presents to children in Boston area hospitals.

Violin, Groton Hill Music

SEPT 2014 - present

As an avid violinist, I have been a member of my school orchestra for the past seven years and have given solo recitals at the Groton Hill Music School over the past eight years.

Sea Wolves Swim Team, Billerica Boys and Girls Club

SEPTEMBER 2017 - present

The Sea Wolves Swim Team at the Boys and Girls club of Billerica is a leading swim team in the North East and I have been active member of this competitive swim team since 2017.

HOSA (Future Health Professionals)

SEPTEMBER 2019- present

I am a member of HOSA, which is a global student-led organization recognized by the U.S. Departments of Education and Health and Human Services. HOSA’s mission is to empower Future Health Professionals to become leaders in the global health community, through education, collaboration, and experience. HOSA actively promotes career opportunities in the health industry and to enhance the delivery of quality health care to all people. HOSA’s goal is to encourage all health science instructors and students to affiliate and be actively involved in the HSE-HOSA Partnership.

HOSA provides a unique program of leadership development, motivation, and recognition exclusively for students interested in pursuing careers in health professions.

As a member of HOSA, I qualified to attend the International Leadership Conference in 2021 in the category of Physical Therapy.

Oncology Program, Boston Leadership Institute

JULY 2021

The Boston Leadership Institute is an award-winning summer program for high-achieving teens. Led by highly qualified and decorated teachers and professors from the Boston area, the ever-expanding BLI lineup covers Medicine, Engineering, Business, and Science.

 

As a participant of the Oncology program, I learned about cancer and how it spreads and affects the body. I also got to observe cancer cells under the microscope and learn how to divide groups of cancer cells without contaminating them.

24% Women in STEM

SEPTEMBER 2021 - present

Nationally, women only make up 24% of all STEM related jobs. As an active member of the 24% Women in STEM club at the Westford Academy, we aim to increase women’s involvement in STEM fields by creating an environment with inclusive, age-appropriate science experiments and activities. In addition, the club actively involves the school community in discussions of possible career paths and what it means to be a woman in such male-dominated fields. The club invites guest speakers to spread awareness and knowledge to club members.

Awards

Presidential Award for Academic Excellence 

I received this award from the President of the United States for academic achievements in the school year 2018-2019.

Gold and Silver Medal-National French Exam 

In 2020, I scored a Gold Medal, and in 2021 and 2022, I scored a Silver Medal

Academic Award in French - 2022

Girl Scouts Gold Award

As a part of Girl Scouts, the highest award one can attain is the Gold Award, an 80-hour individual community service project that must be sustainable and continue in some way even after you have left the project. As part of this award, I taught young children about classical music and music history through fun activities and games. I also plan to create an easily accessible website with the same information I taught the children to fulfill the sustainability aspect.

Girl Scouts Silver Award

I achieved this award for completing a 50-hour community service project in which I renovated and extended a hiking trail and advertised a reopening ceremony in the local community.

Girl Scouts Bronze Award

I achieved this award for completing a 30-hour community service project where I organized a donation of essentials for infants to give to people in poverty who have children.
